So, not only am I the new kid on the block around all these glamorously gorgeous Glam o' Drama Gals, I'm also new at blogging so bear with me, all you glamour fans!
On Friday I had my first chance to perform alongside Madame Bijoux, Fancy Lane, Jolie Étoile and Lady Francescca (Sindy had the night off) and I have to say it was a little bit nerve wrecking coming into the changing room and seeing them all getting all pimped and ready... Luckily CC Champagne has nerves of bulletproof bottle glass, so we got through it! I was also the designated glitter gal for the evening, making my Cleaning Lady outfit come in handy in more ways than one.
First on stage was Madame Bijoux in a follow up to her Big Spender. This time she got her inspiration from the musical/film Cabaret and rained chocolate coins on an ecstatic audience while proving that money really does make the world go round! Sassy and glitzy - and an amazing start to the evening! Who doesn't want Money, Money, Money? Even if they melt unless you eat them (well, who doesn't like chocolate)?
Next on stage was the glamorous Fancy Lane in her Sailor Grrl number, which was new to us all not just the audience and the few pre-show photos supplied by Fancy herself had us all yearning for a long and sensuous journey at sea. But she is such a fantastic showgirl, our Fancy, and with her seductive moves, her gorgeous outfit (I want a bra like that!) and the music of Mis-Teeq's Shoo Shoo Baby, she danced up a storm in the audience! Bravo, Fancy Lane! We all want more, more and more (note to self; pack life-west next time)!
Then Jolie Étoile went on to tell the story of a very non-gender normative relationship indeed; that between a showgirl and her skirt! Our happy star glittered and shone very brightly to the tones of Happy Together, leaving us all (as well as the audience) craving a skirt just like that one! THE skirt, ladies and gentlemen! Once again a new act for us, but one we hope to see again - soon!
As if the audience (and the rest of us) weren't already overheated by all the delightful and enchanting burlesque being served this evening, our very own Biker Chick Lady Francescca boosted the temperature in the room another few degrees with her leather, hand-cuffs and whips! Oh, dear...!!! Watch out for those leather pants, people! And I mean watch out as in keep an eye out for the next chance to see them worn! Ai, ai, ai!!!
One would, along with the rest of the audience, at this point assume that the Glam o' Drama Gals' appearance at Captain Kinky Pinky was over for this time since the lava-hot Sindy Volkano was not in attendance, but... Suddenly the frumpy glitter gal starts shaking her ass (and all the rest of her)! Rumour has it that the effect on the audience was the one we were hoping for... And, well, we do say that burlesque is about being comfortable about who you are, and that we're all fantastic just the way we are so why couldn't an old Cleaning Lady rock the stage in her granny panties?
Of course the Glam o' Drama Gals weren't the only burlesque performers taking advantage of Captain Kinky Pinky's open stage, and warm applause and loads of cheers also went up for both the be-fanged and sexy Evy Maroon with her vampire act and Ange-Lick going from habit wearing nun to pasty wearing showgirl!
All in all an amazing evening and the boobies of the evening awards went to... Madame Bijoux!
As for me, I'm actually starting to get a hang of this performance thing now and can't wait until CC Champagne - and the other girls - has a chance to strut her stuff on stage again!
Big bubbly kisses!
